Abstract

Caring for ornamental fish includes regular maintenance of water quality and quantity. This is often forgotten by fish owners as they do not have sufficient information regarding aquarium conditions. This paper proposes a wireless monitoring system for aquarium based on the Internet of Things. We utilize a temperature sensor, a turbidity sensor, and an ultrasonic sensor for our sensor device. Based on sensor data, we classify aquarium conditions on the server-side using the C4.5 algorithm. The information can be accessed by users via our web-based application. We show in the performance evaluation that this system can achieve 97.8% accuracy using the 80:20 data partition. © 2021 ACM.
