Strategic planning is a commonly used tool in profit-oriented institutions. However, it is rarely applied to non-profit organizations such as churches. The Vicariate Episcopal of Tonsea of the Diocese of Manado, a local Catholic church community, served as a test case for the implementation of strategic planning methods to further the pastoral mission. The study used the Analytic Hierarchy Process to determine the ranking of key elements of the pastoral mission, which provided a methodology upon which to formulate strategic plans and best utilize the available, but limited, resources. This study demonstrates the importance of the Analytic Hierarchy Process in determining the priority of the programs identified by the church. The researchers recommend further and deeper research on other Vicariates of the Diocese of Manado. © Creative Decisions Foundation.
